Everyone feels a little stuck sometimes. You know those days when you stare at your to-do list, or goals, or even your life and think … why is nothing moving?
Don’t panic. The trick isn’t the bulldoze through it, but to remind yourself of a few truths that will get you unstuck (without making your brain explode).
1. Progress isn't always a rocket launch.
Sometimes (if we’re being honest, MOST of the time), progress looks tiny. Like, we’re talking brushing your teeth every day tiny. That’s ok! Moving at a slow pace beats staying frozen. Small steps add up faster than you think.
2. Comparison is a trap.
Social media is a highlight reel and makes it very easy to feel like you’re falling behind. Spoiler: You’re not. Everyone’s journey is different, so focus on your lane (and maybe put your phone down for a minute).
3. Feeling stuck means you're about to grow.
You’ve probably heard it before: “Growth rarely happens in your comfort zone.” Well, that’s the truth! Everything feeling hard or messy might just be a good sign. Embrace the awkward phase you’re in, it’s basically a growth spurt in disguise.
4. You're allowed to pause.
Productivity culture loves to shame taking a minute for yourself, but sometimes you just need to stop, breathe, and reset. Even a 10-minute walk counts as a step forward (bonus points if you do a walking meditation).
5. Failure is still progress.
Messing up is proof that you’re putting in the effort. Think of failure and mistakes as data, telling you what to tweak, pivot, or ditch entirely.
6. Ask for help.
Feeling stuck all by yourself is exhausting. Two heads are better than one, and three are even better! Friends, family, leaders, teammates … you really do have people in your corner to turn to. Reaching out gives you the perspective you may not even know you needed.
7. Let go of perfectionism.
Waiting until everything is perfect is a classic stuck-move. Perfection truly doesn’t exist. Start now, even if the conditions don’t feel perfect, you learn more in action than in planning.
8. Give yourself some credit.
You got out of bed today! You answered an email! You hopped on a meeting! Momentum is built in those small victories. High-five yourself (literally, do it, science backs it up).
9. Change your scenery.
Feeling stuck in your actual physical space often mirrors feeling stuck in your mind. Go outside, rearrange your desk, work from a coffee shop. One small change is sometimes all it takes to spark big ideas!
10. This feeling won't last forever.
Remember, stuck is temporary. Life is fluid, energy shifts. Keep showing up, keep experimenting, and trust that this is a chapter, not your whole story.
Feeling stuck means you’re human, and human brains need a timeout here and there. Remember these 10 truths, take a deep breath, and keep moving, even if that means taking just one small, brave step. The next breakthrough just might be right around the corner!
